The house is situated in a small farming community, surrounded by open countryside and ancient forests, with many Burgundian attractions nearby, its position is ideal for visiting; Flavigny-Sur-Ozerain (famous as the setting for the film 'Chocolat') Alise St. Reine (highest point in Burgundy) Abbey De Fontenay (a world heritage site) Vezeley, Dijon, Beaune, and of course our own village's attraction; the source of the River Seine. For those of you that love the outdoors and nature, you could easily spend much of your time walking, mountain biking, or running around the village and surrounding area, the views are wonderful and wildlife abound. For those interested in wine, some of the world's most famous vineyards are easily accessible, and many lesser known but equally appealling Domaines are keen to welcome you and share the fruits of their labours with you. There are a number of local markets where you can buy fresh local produce, and these are held on various days during the week.
This detached stone built property, with private courtyard, believed to date from the 16th Century, is situated within the quiet rural village of St. Germain-Source Seine, close to the source of the river Seine. The house contains many period features (e.g. 2 large stone fireplaces, 1 with large bread-oven, stone staircase, fromagerie) and has been tastefully renovated and modernised to include oil-fired central heating, and Habitat kitchen furniture. There is a large lounge which includes a dining area, it has a flagstone floor, woodburning stove, TV, DVD Player, and Hi-Fi. The kitchen/diner has halogen hob, extractor hood, oven, and fridge. There is a utility room with washing machine and tumble dryer in the barn, which can also provide off-road parking for at least 2 large cars. It has 2 double bedrooms, and 2 single bedrooms, the office downstairs with sofa-bed can be converted (on request) to provide the sleeping accomodation for 2, rather than using the single bedrooms.
